Discover what is Worklogs Report

This article explains what Worklogs Report is, why you should use it with Jira, and how to get started.

What is Worklogs Report?

Worklogs Report is a reporting app for Atlassian Jira that helps you log work and analyze time entries without using spreadsheets.

At its core, Worklogs Report provides a time-based, board-like view that lets you group issue by fields such as assignee, priority, project, or any custom field, based on the time logged.

Why should you use Worklogs Report with Jira?

Worklogs Report helps team leads and project managers answer key questions about how time is being spent.

These insights help you identify where time has not yet been logged and monitor issues that are at risk of exceeding their estimates.

How does Worklogs Report meet your needs?

Whether you're managing a software project or a service desk, Worklogs Report helps you:

  • Create clear, detailed timesheets without complex setup.

  • Analyze worklogs using fixed or rolling date ranges.

  • Monitor overspent time while logging work on an issue.

  • Group and review logged time by projects, users, priorities, or custom fields.

Colined’s journey

How do we know all of that described above? Well, both Colined founders started working with Jira more than a decade ago — and we’ve been in your shoes. That experience inspired us to create a report that answers the most common questions and works right out of the box, with little to no setup effort. That’s how Worklogs Report was born.

FAQ

How is your data stored?

No data is stored outside your Jira instance. The app does not copy or retain issue data externally. Because of this, it cannot access historical snapshots. For example, it cannot calculate how quickly an Original Estimate was reduced over time.

If you uninstall the app and reinstall it later, previously created reports are not restored and settings return to their default values.

The app collects only the information required to generate reports and support troubleshooting. During the 30-day trial and the 14-day grace period, data is processed while the Cloud license remains active.

Once the license expires, data processing stops. All data becomes unrecoverable 14 days after the grace period ends.

Read access

The app requires read access to:

  • User permissions — to ensure it respects Jira’s native security scheme, so users see only what they are authorized to see.

  • Group memberships — to support aggregated reporting by Jira groups (for example, Engineering or Marketing).

Write access

The app requires limited write access for administrative and user experience purposes:

  • User default settings — to save personal preferences, such as filters, layout settings, and saved report templates.

  • Project-level configuration — to store app-specific settings at the project level and ensure consistent reporting across team members.

For additional information, please consult our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

Does the app create new fields within Jira?

No. The app does not create new fields in your Jira

Additional fields, such as Work Ratio, are available only within the report. They do not appear as standard Jira fields.

How can you verify if you've lost access to the app?

The error message above appears when you have lost access to the app and you are attempt to access the Manage Worklogs Reports page.

A Jira admin can prevent users from creating or accessing reports by removing their permission to use the app.

To revoke or restore access, follow the steps described in the related article.

Can you share report contents?

Yes. You can share reports within your instance using either public or restricted access. You can also export report content to Excel.

Can you integrate the app with other apps?

Yes. The app integrates with Jira Service Management (JSM) and Jira Advanced Roadmaps. These integrations allow you to extend reporting across time tracking, service and advanced planning features.

You can integrate Worklogs Report with other apps in Atlassian's ecosystem.

  • Atlassian apps: Worklogs Report works with Jira and Jira Service Management (JSM).

  • Marketplace apps: Worklogs Report can be integrated with Timesheets by Tempo when both apps are installed on the same Jira or JSM environment, by following the steps provided in a separate article for Jira Cloud.
