This article explains four report sections and configuration options available in each one.
Header
The Header section lets you share the report with other Jira users or export it to Excel for external users. It also provides quick access to your reports, linked pages or notes, and the report's settings.
The following elements are available in the Header section:
-
Name: View the report name and click the down arrow (⌄) to open a list of your most frequently used reports.
-
Description: View the report description.
-
Save a copy: Create an editable copy of the report.
-
Configure: Open the report configuration page, where you can manage permissions, rename the report, and modify other settings. These options are also available when creating a report, as explained in a related article.
-
Excel: Export the report to a Microsoft Excel workbook. A separate article describes the exported fields.
-
Share: Copy the report's URL to the clipboard.
-
Log Work: Add a worklog to an issue. A separate article describes the pop-up window that appears when logging time.
Sources
The Sources section defines which issues, users, and time period are included in the report.
The following options are available:
-
Project or Filter: Select the report source as a single project, multiple projects, or a saved filter.
-
Users & Groups: Specify which users are included in the report. If left empty, the report includes worklogs for all users. You can also select individual users or user groups.
-
Date Range: Select the time period covered by the report.
-
Predefined Range: Choose a predefined period, such as This Week, This Month, Last Week, Last Month, Last 7 Days, or Last 30 Days. The corresponding start and end dates are populated automatically.
-
Custom Range: Specify the start and end dates by using the calendar or entering the dates manually.
Access to all users’ worklogs is also controlled at the app level, as explained in a related article.
Summary
The Summary section organizes worklog data into a summarized table.
The following options are available:
-
Group By: Group worklogs by a selected field.
For example, grouping by Issue Type shows how much time each user logged against each issue type.
-
Time Units: Display time using Jira's default time-tracking format (for example, 1w 3d 2h 15m) or as Hours, Days, Weeks, or Months.
-
Summary: Group the selected date range into intervals such as Day, Week, or Month.
For example, selecting Week groups all worklogs into weekly columns, with Monday used as the first day of the week.
Breakdown
The Breakdown section provides a detailed view of the summarized data. You can display additional Jira system fields, app fields, and custom fields for each worklog.
The following options are available:
-
Fields: Select up to three fields to display with each worklog.
For example, selecting Project, Fix Versions, and Parent displays those values for every worklog.
-
Breakdown: Choose how worklogs are displayed: Cards, Issue List, or Worklogs List.
A column (Worklog Date) is shown for each worklog. You can navigate between dates using the forward and back buttons located to the right of the displayed period.
For example, when Cards is selected, the fields you choose (such as Project, Fix Versions, and Parent) are displayed within each card, providing a layout similar to Jira board issues.
For each of the three option, the following fields are displayed: Worklog By, Priority, Issue Type, Issue, Summary, Worklog Date, Time Spent (Hours), and Comment.
